Membership Dues

National Dues

PWAC National Membership Dues are $240 for Professional and Associate Members and $40 for Student Members per year. PWAC membership dues are a tax-deductible expense for self-employed writers.

Chapter Dues

Some chapters also charge a nominal chapter fee to cover local activities. These are based on an annual charge.

Chapters that charge annual chapter dues

  • Atlantic-at-Large = $5
  • Calgary = $15*
  • Guelph = $10
  • Manitoba = $10
  • Moncton = $10*
  • Niagara Escarpment = $10
  • Northwestern Ontario = $10*
  • Ottawa = $20*
  • Quebec = $18*
  • South West New Brunswick = $25*
  • Toronto = $25 (Students $10)*
  • Vancouver = $25*
  • Victoria = $25*
* = Chapter dues charged to Student Members

Chapters that do not charge chapter dues

BC Interior, Central New Brunswick, Edmonton, Halifax, London & SW Ontario, Ontario-at-Large, Peterborough, Prairies & the North at-Large, Saskatchewan, and South West New Brunswick.

Renewals

PWAC memberships are renewed in September of each year. National and applicable Chapter dues are billed at the same time.

Pro-rata Rates for New Members

PWAC dues for new members are calculated on a pro-rata basis depending on the month of joining. Please contact the PWAC National Office prior to sending any payment to calculate the correct dues amount.

NB: Please also indicate which chapter you wish to join.

All PWAC new member applications must include payment for membership dues.

*NB: Student membership dues are not pro-rated.

Cheque/Money Order

Please make cheques payable to PWAC and date them for the first day of the month that you join. For more information about installment payments, please contact the National Office.

VISA/MasterCard

Please provide credit card number and expiry date.

PayPal

This on-line service can be used by those with existing accounts, or a new account can be established quickly. PayPal accounts can also be used for other purchases, including eBay.

Membership Referrals

If a PWAC member recruited you to join, please give the name of the member on your application form.

PWAC DUES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE

 


This year marks my 20th as a full-time freelance journalist, and joining PWAC was one of the smartest moves I've made. It opened the door to obtaining a part-time teaching position, which was one of my main goals in recent years. Thanks PWAC!
